A photocatalyst is a substance that generates catalyst activity using energy from a light. Titanium dioxide is the typical material used. However, it will volatilize after 2 to 5 years, and condensation will occur where mold will grow. It also requires the light where it will be ineffective in a dark location.
Air purifiers are effective in reducing airborne mold spores but are not effective in preventing mold spores from growing.
Although positive pressure is intended to prevent mold from entering a facility, it does not prevent mold from growing. Even with positive pressure, mold can still grow indoors.
AXION25 does not release chemicals or rely on light activation. It works through physical surface control and remains effective long term.
It is classified as the lowest levels of hazardous substance emission and does not contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
It can be dyed in various light matte colors. Dark colors are not available as it contains white ceramic materials.
The application process is same as a general water-based paint. 1 container is 14kg and gives 25m to 30 m of surface coverage. It cannot be painted on polypropylene and Teflon coating.
The coating itself is not waterproof, but it can be applied over waterproof systems, such as Radiant+ Coating System from Radiant Climate Technologies.
